While you can put most plastic food preparation boards into the dishwasher, wooden ones are a different kettle of fish altogether. Prolonged exposure to heat and water will cause your wooden board to split or develop cracks which can then trap and house harmful bacteria and other nasties.

You can perform regular cleaning in warm water using a soft sponge and a small amount of dish washing liquid. For a deeper clean, or to remove stubborn stains, rub the board with some lemon and salt. All you have to do is sprinkle some kosher salt on your cutting board, use half a lemon to rub it in, and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. Then, give the board a rinse with clean water, and it should be as good as new!
